EBM ascribes high priority to emergency and crisis management. In its capacity as an energy utility, the company is of crucial importance to business, private and public life. To ensure it is prepared for outages and aware of how its own security and energy supply systems work in the event of an emergency, EMB has carried out tests of its own operations and passed them with flying colours.

The "EBM site BLACKOUT" drill took place today, Tuesday, 22 November 2016 from 4 am to 6 am. At 4 am on the dot, EBM cut off the power supply throughout its site, i.e. all buildings and infrastructure in Münchenstein. As expected, EBM's own emergency generators kicked in, ensuring the seamless supply of power, with all the relevant technical functions, notably monitoring and management of network operations, IT and communication technology, resuming full operation as planned. Using checklists, all of the buildings, infrastructure and facilities such as emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and the electronic door-closing system were reviewed, checked and any deficiencies duly noted.

The resumption of regular energy supply took place at 5 am without any problems and in compliance with processes. The "EMB site BLACKOUT" drill had no effect on our customers' power supply. This unique test enabled EBM to check and further optimise its security and energy supply systems as planned. This was for the benefit of EBM itself and of all of its customers.
