The optional tariff Primeo Aktiv

Postpone electricity procurement and benefit from lower prices

Primeo Aktiv is an alternative to the standard tariff for the Basis customer group. You benefit from Primeo Aktiv if you shift your electricity consumption to times when either a lot of electricity is being produced or the grid is under low demand.

Are you interested in the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff?

You are a customer in the Basic customer group with an annual energy consumption of up to 50,000 kilowatt hours and have larger shiftable energy consumption (e.g. electric cars, heat pumps, etc.). If you shift your electricity consumption to times when either a lot of electricity is being produced or the grid is under low demand, you can reduce your electricity costs by up to 20 per cent.

How does the optional tariff work?
The «Primeo Aktiv» optional tariff is an alternative to the existing standard tariff (grid usage and energy). It includes more tariff periods with different prices for the consumption-based part of the tariff (working price). The prices are divided into high, medium and low tariffs, and the tariff periods are divided according to the time of day and season (summer and winter). This means that when a lot of electricity is produced by photovoltaic systems and fed into the grid, a lot should be consumed. The price is then lower and more attractive. This also applies to times when little electricity is consumed, such as at night. Shifting consumption to night-time also reduces the load on the grid.

Tariff change
You can apply for a tariff change directly on this page (below). As a rule, the change will take place within four weeks on the 1st of the following month. A minimum term of one year applies to tariff changes. After this minimum term has expired, you can always cancel at the end of the quarter. The notice period is one month.

Is the Primeo Aktiv tariff right for me?

If you have higher electricity consumption, for example for an electric car, a heat pump or a home storage battery, and can shift this consumption to times when the electricity grid is under low load or when a lot of electricity is being produced (e.g. by photovoltaic systems), you can benefit from the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff. This tariff is not available to participants in a local electricity community (LEG).

Questions - Answers

When can I benefit from the low rates?

The following tariff schedule shows you the times when you benefit from particularly low network usage tariffs (see the Primeo Aktiv flyer under Prices and further information).

Which household applications are particularly suitable for load shifting?

The following applications with a higher energy requirement are particularly suitable for load shifting:

Charging an electric car: 3000 Kilowattstunden
Operating a heat pump: 4000-6000 kilowatt hours

(Energy requirement per year, reference values)

What will change with the switch to load profile metering?
  • Meter readings are no longer shown on the bill. Only the consumption data is displayed.
  • The customer portal also displays the load profile and the download options.
How do I know if I have a load profile measurement?

You can find this information in the myPrimeo customer portal. You will find your metering points under Consumption & Production. If ‘Load profile meter’ is indicated under Meter type, then you have a load profile measurement.

If you see the following information, you do not have a load profile measurement:
«Register values» means that you will receive instalment invoices and a final invoice with the annual consumption measured.
«Smart meter» means that you generally have a monthly meter reading.

How long does the changeover to the new tariff take?

At least 4 weeks in advance to the 1st of the following month.

Is it possible that I will pay more if the load shifting does not work?

As a rule, if no loads are actively shifted, you will fare worse than with the current tariff.

Why do high, medium and low tariffs for the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff also apply at weekends?

The consumption of household customers is not lower at weekends than during the week, rather the opposite. At the same time, on sunny summer Sundays, for example, there are hours with high PV feed-in and low consumption. It therefore also makes sense at weekends to incentivise load shifting to the afternoon hours by means of high, medium and low tariffs.

How are the all-in prices (for grid and energy) structured with Primeo Aktiv?

The following charts show the all-in costs with the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff in summer and winter.

What should I do if I have chosen the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff but then want to switch back to the basic tariff?

When changing tariffs, a minimum term of one year applies. After this minimum term has expired, you can always cancel at the end of the quarter. The cancellation period is one month. Primeo Energie must be notified of the change in writing.

What goals is Primeo Energie pursuing with the Primeo Aktiv optional tariff?

As stipulated in the Mantelerlass decree, there will be an increase in so-called dynamic tariffs in future in order to balance energy production and consumption. The aim of these efforts is to ensure secure grid operation and to structure the costs of the electricity grid appropriately.
