At the 128th ordinary Delegates’ Assembly held on 15 April 2026, voting members approved the renaming of EBM (cooperative Elektra Birseck) to Primeo Energie Cooperative. They also approved the annual financial statements and management report, strengthened the energy fund and elected Thomas Ernst as a new member of the Board of Directors.
The transformation from EBM to Primeo Energie is now complete. On Wednesday, the delegates decided to rename the former cooperative EBM (Genossenschaft Elektra Birseck) as Primeo Energie Genossenschaft. Since 2019, the group has operated under the Primeo Energie brand, which has since become well established and is positively perceived by customers. The name change ensures that the umbrella brand is now also reflected in the cooperative’s legal name and helps to avoid misunderstandings.
Prior to this, the delegates approved the annual financial statements and the management report of the Primeo Energie Group. Operating profit (EBIT) rose to CHF 127 million in 2025 (previous year: CHF 124 million). Net income amounted to CHF 109 million (previous year: CHF 91 million), providing a strong basis for investments by the cooperatively organised group. In total, Primeo Energie invested CHF 187 million in energy infrastructure, exceeding its annual profit. Investments of CHF 220 million are planned for the current year.
The delegates also decided to increase the allocation to the energy fund from CHF 2 million to CHF 4 million. Through this fund, Primeo Energie supports members and customers in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, security of supply and innovation. Funding applications increased significantly in 2025. A total of CHF 3.1 million was granted, primarily for connections to district heating networks. Support will now also be extended to the conversion of photovoltaic systems from direct feed-in to self-consumption, and Primeo Energie therefore expects a further rise in applications. An additional CHF 500,000 was allocated to donations for non-profit organisations.
The delegates re-elected Gilbert Fuchs and Carmen Gerber-Balmelli to the Board of Directors for a further term until 2030. Thomas Ernst from Arlesheim was newly elected to the Board. The engineer and Executive MBA is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gruner Holding AG and brings many years of management experience in the energy and building technology sectors. His term of office runs until 2030. Long-standing Vice Chairman Urs Grütter was formally thanked and bid farewell. The delegates also reappointed Ernst & Young AG, Basel, as statutory auditor for another term.
