Following the success of its first energy-saving campaign in the winter of 2023/24, Primeo Energie launched a second round between December 2024 and March 2025. The result: more than 285 megawatt-hours of electricity were saved.
Primeo Energie customers who reduced their electricity consumption by at least 15% between 1 December 2024 and 31 March 2025 (compared to the same period the previous year) received a credit of 5 centimes per kilowatt-hour saved. Participants who had already taken part in the previous year benefited from a reduced savings target of 7.5%. The credited amounts were financed by Primeo Energie’s energy fund.
Nearly 2,400 customers accepted the challenge—about 400 more than in the first campaign. Of those, 429 successfully met the targets: 299 achieved savings of 15% or more, and 130 met the lower target of 7.5%. Some participants managed to reduce their consumption by as much as 50%. In total, 285.5 MWh of electricity were saved compared to the same period the previous year.
To take part, customers needed to have a smart meter, comparable consumption data from the previous year, and an annual electricity usage below 50,000 kilowatt-hours. Registration was done via the customer portal. Each month, participants received practical energy-saving tips by email to help them lower their consumption. Progress toward their individual goals could be tracked online at any time.
Achieving a 15% reduction is a significant challenge for low-consumption households—typically those in rental apartments. For households with higher electricity use, such as single-family homes with heat pumps, reaching this target is considerably easier. The campaign aimed particularly at engaging those who had not previously given much thought to energy saving.
Even after the conclusion of the 2024/25 winter campaign, saving energy remains crucial: every kilowatt-hour not consumed is one that doesn’t need to be produced.
