New exhibition on solar pioneers at Primeo Energie Kosmos

The exhibition ‘PlanetSolar – Pioneers of Solar Energy’ has opened at Primeo Energie Kosmos with a preview event. Until 23 October 2025, visitors will have the opportunity to take a journey through the history of photovoltaics and learn about the pioneers of solar energy.

On 16 April 2025, the time had come: the travelling exhibition ‘PlanetSolar – Pioneers of Solar Energy’ opened its doors at Primeo Energie Kosmos in Münchenstein. This is the first time it has been shown in German. The exhibition is the brainchild of the PlanetSolar Foundation, founded by solar pioneer Raphaël Domjan, who attended the opening in person. Domjan made history when he circumnavigated the globe in a solar-powered catamaran. His new plan: to fly into the stratosphere using the energy of the sun.

The exhibition, which has previously been shown in ten cities in western Switzerland and France, showcases important milestones, people and objects from the history of photovoltaics. These include one of the first solar modules, a solar-powered radio and the wingsuit with which extreme athlete Géraldine Fasnacht jumped from a solar-powered aircraft piloted by Raphaël Domjan.

Cédric Christmann, CEO of Primeo Energie, said: ‘This exhibition is a perfect fit for Primeo Energie, as we ourselves actively support the expansion of photovoltaics. The innovative spirit of the solar pioneers featured in this exhibition must continue to drive us forward today in order to successfully implement the energy transition. Solar energy is a central building block for a sustainable future, and that is what both the Primeo Energie Kosmos and this exhibition are all about.’

Raphaël Domjan said: ‘I am delighted that the PlanetSolar Foundation is now also present in German-speaking Switzerland and can inspire even more people to get excited about solar energy.’

Primeo Energie Kosmos is accompanying the exhibition with a varied programme of events. These include guided tours and specially designed workshops. In the Energy Learning World, which is part of Primeo Energie Kosmos, children and young people can build solar cars and thus what the pioneers in the exhibition are achieving on a large scale. A special highlight awaits guests on 15 May, when the Basel solar cinema ‘Nomatark’ will show the film ‘The Value of Things’ at Primeo Energie Kosmos.
