Contribution towards the cost of paper invoices

From 1 July 2026, Primeo Energie will charge a fee for paper bills. The reason for this is to ensure that the costs of printing and postage are charged to the party responsible. At the same time, Primeo Energie would like to encourage the switch to digital billing. Of course, free alternatives will continue to be available to you.

From 1 July 2026, we will be charging a fee of CHF 0.90 (including VAT) per bill for printing and sending paper bills. Our aim is to encourage our customers to switch to digital billing, which is faster, easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

Primeo Energie relies on digital processes because they are efficient and help us to reduce operating costs in the long term. Paper bills incur comparatively high costs without offering any real added value. With this fee, we are passing on these costs to those who continue to prefer paper.

Of course, you can still receive your bills free of charge – conveniently via eBill or as an e-mail bill. Many of our customers are already successfully using these digital alternatives.

For those who are not yet so digitally savvy, we offer support with the switch and show you step by step how easy it is to make the change.

In the following sections, you will learn more about eBill and e-mail billing and how you can easily activate them.

eBill

With eBill, you can receive, check and pay your bills directly in your e-banking system. To do so, you need an e-banking contract with a financial institution that supports eBill. You can find an overview of participating financial institutions and further information directly at eBill.

Log in to your e-banking account and follow the instructions for eBill. Once you have activated eBill in your online banking account, you can select ‘Primeo Energie’ from the list of billers and follow the remaining steps. You will then automatically receive all bills from Primeo Energie directly in your online banking account.

You can also find a video tutorial here.

E-mail invoice

An invoice by email is a form of electronic invoice. In this case, the invoice is sent to you as a PDF/A file by email. The invoice by email must contain the same mandatory information as a traditional paper invoice and is subject to the same legal requirements. You can find the registration form in the myPrimeo customer portal.

Yes, all Primeo Energie customers are equally affected.

Why am I now being charged for paper bills?

We charge a fee for paper bills to cover the costs of printing and postage on a user-pays basis. Customers can opt out of this fee at any time. We offer free alternatives in the form of eBill or email billing.

Why has Primeo Energie decided to introduce a fee for paper bills?
  • Primeo Energie wants to promote digital processes because they are more cost-effective, faster and more sustainable.
  • Primeo Energie and all other energy suppliers are forced to operate more and more efficiently and to invest and weigh up their money wisely. Sending paper bills is expensive and offers no significant added value. That is why we will also be using digital processes for billing in future. Customers who still want paper bills will continue to receive them for CHF 0.90.
  • Thanks to many alternatives, paper is no longer absolutely necessary these days. A large proportion of our customers already do without paper. That is why Primeo Energie now passes on these costs to all customers who still want paper, in line with the polluter pays principle.
  • There are now free alternatives to paper bills that are also more environmentally friendly, such as eBill or email billing.
  • A cost contribution for paper bills is already standard practice in the market.
  • We offer our customers who are not digitally savvy alternatives tailored to their situation and support them in the transition process.
Aren't older people particularly disadvantaged by this change?

Customers who already receive our invoices digitally come from all age groups. It would be wrong to think that older customers are not digitally savvy per se.

Contact us – we will be happy to assist you with the transition process.
