Münchenstein, 10 September 2025 – As of 1 January 2026, Primeo Energie will assume responsibility for all metering and billing services for Private Consumption Associations (PCA) from Energie Wasser Bern (ewb), Regio Energie Solothurn (RES) and AGROLA. With this acquisition, Primeo Energie expands its portfolio and will manage more than 20,000 PCA metering points across Switzerland.
For existing customers of ewb, RES and AGROLA, the transition will be seamless. All affected parties will be notified by letter. The three utilities will continue to collaborate closely with Primeo Energie, enabling them to remain involved in offering PCA services to their customers, which Primeo Energie will then deliver.
“We believe in energy communities as a key element of the energy transition,” says Primeo Energie CEO Cédric Christmann. “I am therefore all the more pleased that ewb, RES and AGROLA are placing their trust in us by transferring their PCA services. For us, this is both recognition and motivation: it confirms the quality of our solutions and allows us, together with our partners, to continue advancing energy communities.”
Energy community models such as PCAs, vPCAs (virtual private consumption associations), or—as of 2026—LECs (Local Electricity Communities) enable property owners to use self-produced solar power collectively and in a decentralised way. Primeo Energie supports customers in planning, establishing and managing such communities and can take on all tasks—from consulting and operations to billing. primeo-energie.ch
By taking over PCA metering and billing services, Primeo Energie continues its growth path in the energy communities sector and strengthens its position as a leading provider of PCA services in Switzerland.
